Bojangles' Names Charlotte's Steven Mackey Champion of 2013 Master Biscuit Maker Challenge
Charlotte, N.C. - Nov. 13, 2013—Local Bojangles’ Team Member Wins #MasterBiscuitMaker Competition, Brings Home $2,500 Cash Prize
Steven Mackey, a team member at the Bojangles’ located at 300 West Blvd. in Charlotte, N.C. has been named champion in Bojangles’ 17th annual Master Biscuit Maker Challenge, making him this year’s best biscuit-maker of all Bojangles’ company restaurants. Bojangles’ Master Biscuit Maker Challenge is an annual companywide competition in which thousands of Bojangles’ team members from more than 550 company-owned and franchised locations across the Southeast compete to be named the top biscuit-maker, the Master Biscuit Maker.
As a recipient of the 2013 Master Biscuit Maker title, Mackey will bring home a $2,500 cash prize, a champion trophy and most importantly, bragging rights. A student at the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Charlotte, Mackey enjoys his experience in the kitchen at Bojangles’, where he has been a team member since November of 2010. In addition to the Master Biscuit Maker Challenge, Mackey’s dedication has also been recognized with a recent promotion to manager of Bojangles’ Midtown location in Charlotte where he will begin later this year.
“I’m grateful for Bojangles’,” said Mackey. “It’s not just about the company – you can tell Bojangles’ really cares and it’s nice to go to work at a place like that.”

The Master Biscuit Maker Challenge continues this week in Charlotte, N.C., as Bojangles’ team members from franchised locations and in managerial positions compete in the final rounds of the culinary showdown.
